SPB opens UK’s first insurance-approved repairs store

Affinity provider SPB Group has announced it has opened the UK’s first insurance-approved mobile device walk-in repair store. The new Phone Service Centre outlet is located on Welbeck Street in central London. SPB said the launch marked an expansion of its 180 stores in France.

Phone Service Centre offers a range of ‘while you wait’ solutions for smartphone and tablets. With most repairs being completed in under 40 minutes, the firm said that it expected broken screens and issues involving batteries to be common requests by customers.

‘The model has proven successful in France and other parts of Europe and the plan for the UK is to deploy the concept on a franchise model with the full centralised support of the group,’ said SPB UK managing director Colin Whitehair.

‘We have been pleased, but not at all surprised, by the reaction of potential new insurance clients, given that we have the capabilities to white label the service to maximise their opportunities for brand assimilation.’

The Phone Service Centre will also offer a free battery-charging service and loan charger facility.
